I use macOS Monterey on version 12.1. I am having this issue too. I was able to solve this issue! What worked for me was navigating to Citra -> Preferences -> Audio -> Output Engine. Mine was set to auto, but changing it to sdl2 (not actually sure what that is) fixed the audio back to normal.
