I just picked up a clean 89 Scottsdale that has a 00' LS engine swapped in. It is using a stock 4.8 and ECU, and what I am told is a Painless harness. I would just get a LS style 4L60E at a minimum. Personally I would ditch the 60E and get a 4L80E though. You could probably trade off the LS1 for an iron 6.0L too, which would work better for the swap. Reaction score. 15,678. 2 things: 1) You don't NEED a different transfer case, you can just swap the input shaft and bearing to accommodate 32 spline. 2) Easy fix for the 4lo issue, did this to mine. Steal a system segment from a 6.0/4L80 4x4 truck and your 4lo will work without screwing with anything else.I will include the part numbers for the compressor, the longer serpentine belt, the factory ac hoses that work with the kit. this relocates a gm compressor to the passenger side front top of the engine. it clears the hood, and looks very factory. this kit is designed specifically for gmt 400 trucks, but could be fit to other non gm vehicles ...Now I want to turn these ideas into a reality. The 4.2L isn't much of a truck engine I think. A Cadillac 500 is just too much engine for me in this truck but maybe I'll build one some day. When I'm done with the trucks I'm getting my wife a '57 Chevy so a 500 with maybe 6 speed would be a nice setup.
