The mixture screw should have been set to it's initial setting of 2.75 turns out from lightly seated when you put the carb back together then fine tuned after it's running.Idle will not adjust down. I have a 2001 Recon 250. The idle screw will not do anything. I can close it off completely or open it up all the way and there is no change in the idle. It idles at around 2000 rpm unless I pull out the choke. With the choke out about 3/4 of the way it idles fine, but I should not have to do that.Just remember, turn the knob clockwise to increase the rpm, counter-clockwise to decrease it. 8) Mike. P.S. - I have also found that the adjustment is easier while I have the fuel enrichment knob pulled out when first starting up. If you use all your clip positions and are at the last grove on either end, then you need to consider changing the Needle type, Main Jet or both.
