Should anyone run into a bad ignition unit what I found is, if the tests between battery terminal and ignition coil terminal are backwards (open when leads are on the proper way but in spec when swapping leads on the terminals) I used a heat gun to open the unit and checked and found diodes (3) where all good leaving the transistor.Quad that runs great: Primary: 0.5 ohms. Secondary: 8 M ohms (8,000,000 ohms) The 8M didn't sound reasonable to me since the factory specs are 15K ohms for the secondary. I used a different voltmeter and took several more readings and still got 8 M ohms. It seems to me that if the stator was going bad or completely failed, you would have battery charge problems, as the stator (alternator) is what charges and maintains the charge of the battery along with the voltage regulator. I doubt the stator. Likely the coil or CDI.
