Mar 4, 2013 · In fairness I've never shot them, this is all based on specs. I've handles a 590A1 and it's heavier than my 870 Wingmaster. Edit: I just checked Mossberg's website and the weight numbers are very close. In fact some 590A1s are lighter than some 590s. Also the 590s only come in 20" but the 590A1s come in 18.5" or 20". The Remington 870 uses a robust, one-piece design that combines the action bars and pump. The Mossberg 500 series uses two pinned action bars that are anchored to a separate slide assembly.
