You HAVE to swap the stator assembly. The road kind uses a high output stator which is a lot wider. Also the harness is different. Either swap the old sensors and harness or re pin the road king harness. I wound up re pinning since crank sensor was smashed in the old engine. It's a direct swap but the 6-speed trans cover (right side) will have to be used as the gear set extends farther out with the 6-speed. OEM gearing on a 5-speed is the same as a 6-speed up to and including 5th gear, which is 1:1 ratio. 6th gear is .86:1.
