Point is, when I was applying to fellowships, I had a dream list of 5 or so, an acceptable list of another 5-10, but beyond that I would have forgone fellowship entirely. How do you compare your more traditional "larger" cardiology programs with 4+ fellows per year, subspecialty fellows, crystalized didactics and structure with the smaller programs (2 fellows). These smaller programs often lack the very robust / structured didactics and push for research but have much more autonomy in the cath lab …I know few people who have done cardiology -> crit -> interventional cardiology. These are mostly in academic settings. Favorable path for you is cardiology followed by 1 yr CCM. Instead of 2 yr CCM followed by 3 yr cardiology. You should be aware that by doing both fellowships you end up losing upto 1 million of lost income potential.As such I am interested in completing a cardiology fellowship at an academic institution with a lot of research opportunities preferably, at a larger city in the south (ie Emory, UAB, UTSW, Vanderbilt, etc).
